We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Lovec and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, what do you attribute your success to?
The success of The Alchemy Company comes down to the people who make up the company. There are two main factors when selecting team members and those are work ethic and a positive attitude. We truly believe if you onboard individuals with those specific traits, the rest will fall into place. At the end of the day, our clients want to know that we are working hard and are here to make the closing process easier for them.

What should our readers know about your business?

The Alchemy Company is a unique real estate brokerage that specializes in transaction coordinating. Unlike your standard brokerage, we are a business to business operation and our clients are other real estate agents and brokers.

When I started out almost 11 years ago, the idea of creating a Transaction Coordinating company was novel, but I was committed to creating a different experience for our clients. On the operations side, it was important to figure out a way to create a team structure that allowed for growth, support and work-life balance. Historically, this had been a solo role and you worked through sickness and health with no real way to take time off. My belief was, if you could create a structure that offers that growth, support and work-life balance mentioned above, not only would our incredible TCs be able to reach their income goals, but also be happier! This in turn allows them to offer our clients extraordinary service and maintain that positive, friendly demeanor that is much needed in this high stress environment.

I took a dream and coupled it with my skill set – extreme attention to detail, a love for creating systems that allows for scalability and good ole fashion hard work – and grew this business organically 1 day at a time.

Just like most things worth doing in life, there have been very hard days, but those are most certainly out weighed by the absolutely amazing days. To have built a company of all women, that understands the demands and needs of moms in the work force and see so many be able to achieve their personal financial goals because of this career is both humbling and inspiring.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a San Diego based company is really special! Having grown up in Alabama, I can truly appreciate San Diego and all it has to offer. After almost 22 years here, I feel very well equipped to share all there is to love about this city!

My absolute favorite part of San Diego is Coronado. The Hotel Del of course is a must. If you are lucky enough to stay there, I think staying in the original, historic part of the hotel is the way to do it. You really feel a bit as if you are stepping back in time and it is fun to imagine that maybe Marilyn Monroe was a former guest in your room! The other thing I love to do when visiting Coronado is to see the island from bike. You can bike around the whole island, seeing all the fun houses and of course stopping for ice cream on your journey! I also, always recommend the Cheese Dip at Miguels!

After you have gotten Coronado off the bucket list, my next tour bus stop would be in Encinitas – my other favorite beach town in San Diego County. This is also where I have chosen to call home with my family. There are many beaches to choose from, but as a family of five, you can find us at Moonlight – with bathrooms, a snack shack and playground, there is something for everyone. If you aren’t a beach person, no problem – the 101 has so many shops, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, you name it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents for making sure I gave 100% to anything I committed to. My husband for believing in me and supporting me when I came to him to discuss all the reasons we should let go of my stable income and jump off into the entrepreneurial world. And of course all of the Transaction Coordinators at Alchemy who show up every single day and give their all to our clients!
