We had the good fortune of connecting with Terry Jasinto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terry, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
When it comes to the music business, outsiders think that artists just get discovered quickly and then it’s off to the races. Though that can happen, the reality is it takes a lot of patience, discipline and being open to creating your own luck and opportunities.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started to DJ during the mid 1990’s in Seattle. I took a 10 year break from the industry for my family in 2005 and I resumed with music in 2015 shortly after moving to San Diego. I’ve been blessed to have the community’s support which I’m grateful for. Besides performing regularly in San Diego, I also travel to DJ.

I’ve also been producing music since 2018. In 2020, I had two #1 techno tracks, and since then the music I produce has charted consistently. I can’t take all the credit though. I’ve been lucky enough to work with music labels that market my music well and I have a strong core of people who consistently support my productions. I wouldn’t be where I’m at without their support. I’ve been lucky enough to have music charted in multiple genres from house music to techno and much more.

I have a very deep and personal connection with music that goes back to my childhood and it’s always served as a safe space for me (I’ll save these details for another interview lol).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego is a magnificent city for people to visit. I would say that I would probable visit some hole in the wall taco shop to have some genuine Mexican food. Speaking of Mexico, I would do a day trip into Rosarito or TJ.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
