Meet Sarah Tracy | Owner of Fit4Mom Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Tracy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My family is the most important factor in regards to my success. Without them, I would not have had the confidence to pursue owning my own business. Quite honestly, being a business owner is completely out of my comfort zone. I have a passion for helping people and helping others make connections though. So when the opportunity presented itself to own Fit4Mom Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley, my husband, Murdock, talked to me about how my love for helping people would be a perfect fit.
After that discussion, I started to feel that this was something that I could do. He was right all along. My love for making those connections and helping moms find themselves and their village has come across to all of the moms that I have had the pleasure of meeting throughout my time as an owner.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
FIT4MOM is the nation’s leading prenatal and postnatal fitness program. We provide fitness classes and a network of moms to support every stage of motherhood. From pregnancy, through postpartum and beyond, our fitness and wellness programs help make moms strong in body, mind, and spirit.
Fit4Mom Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley really promotes a sense of community. We have a monthly Mom’s Night Out as well as play dates for our children. We connect during our workouts and all of our community events. Motherhood, especially as a new mom, can be so isolating so that is where we come in. Since we allow, and encourage, children to be at our workouts, we are very different from traditional gyms and studios. A hidden bonus of our children being present is that they see, and start modeling, healthy behaviors.
As a relatively new business owner, Covid has been a huge challenge. I purchased my business in August 2021 so I am still learning the ropes. Not only has Covid changed the numbers and dynamic of our business, we’ve had to be extra careful with our in person classes since they are full of children, babies, and expecting moms. Navigating those challenges as well as learning everything there is to know about all of the business things has been particularly challenging. In order to overcome all of this, I’ve been connecting with other local business owners to hear what works for them and what doesn’t. They have all been so helpful! Also, I have really leaned on my instructors. I have trusted their opinions and expertise in various areas and they have honestly helped my success. I could not have done it without them.
I have learned not to be afraid to ask for help. Instructors and other business owners, as well as the moms in my village, want to help. We all want this to be successful and strong. Prior to becoming a business owner, I felt that asking for help was a weakness and that would show everyone that I was not the right person for this job. Now I realize that asking for help means that I know my strengths and the strengths of those around me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many fun things to do and eat locally!
A visit to Huntington State Beach is a definite must! You can’t go wrong with a day at the beach to enjoy our weather. A new restaurant, Sahara Sand Bar just opened and having pizza at the beach is just perfect! Before heading home we would have to stop at Handel’s Ice Cream in Huntington Beach. So many delicious flavors and how do you not have ice cream after a day at the beach?
Other local favorite foods are Monster Muffins, LUV Nutrition Smoothies, Las Barcas Mexican Food, and Broken Yolk Cafe.
I love going down to San Diego Safari Park so we would absolutely need to visit that. That is a whole day in itself and has some wonderful food and activities to do.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe so much to all the moms that I have met since I became a member of Fit4Mom in December 2016. Each and every one of them has touched my life and helped me grow in confidence, not just as a mom but as a person as well. Without this community, and the previous owner Nikki Butler, I would not be the mom or confident person that I am now.
My family also deserves a huge amount of credit for propping me up and encouraging me. My mom, Roberta Stack, husband, Murdock Tracy, and my children Caine and Ethan. They have been there for me in so many ways. From helping me at marketing events to listening to my crazy ideas, I could not do it without them.
