We had the good fortune of connecting with Keyana Bacon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keyana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I initially started revising resumes for family and friends, helping them to secure employment. A few other services included revising documents for their businesses, college applications, and coursework assignments. After realizing there was a need, I wanted to help others secure steady employment along with providing professional writing assistance.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Along with running a business providing resume services and other professional services, I am a full-time Senior HR Generalist with a Fortune 500 automotive supplier. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Business degree in Managerial Marketing with a minor in Human Resources Management from Kent State University and a Masters of Business in Human Resource Management from the University of Toledo. I have progressively grown with my current employer and have a little over 5 years of experience in Human Resources. Most of my experience includes supporting recruitment, day-to-day human resources operations, onboarding and employee relations. Thanks to networking and making connections, I believe this is why I am where I am today.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places include Frontera Mexican restaurant, Inside the Five Brewery, Reset Arcade, Forest View Lanes – Recreation Bar and Grill and anything with good drinks and food. Options are sort of limited in Toledo, but it’s always a good time with friends and family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would like to shoutout my previous clients. A lot of my new business comes from word of mouth and recommendations from previous clients. I post and promote on social media, but I believe my growth has truly came from my tribe. They continue to refer my services and even ask if other services would be available for assistance.
