We had the good fortune of connecting with LaMya Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaMya, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I know that the technical term is “taking risk” , but I prefer to say “taking a leap of faith”. This quality that I have inside me to just go for it has gotten me where I am today! Taking risks is literally the most important thing you can do while in pursuit of your dream(s). Understanding that gut feeling you are having is communication from the universe. You were led to THIS particular opportunity to make THIS decision that could be very intricate into where you are going. Become comfortable with the unknown and remain in belief of the highest version of yourself that you see. Understand that everything has already been written and that you are being guided to take a leap of faith! It is all aligned!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Seek.The.Beat was founded with the primary goal to provide experiences that will leave everlasting changes on how one feels about themselves. We truly believe that everyone deserves to embody their higher being, inside and out. We help awaken the confidence that one already possesses by providing top of the line health and beauty services. Seek.The.Beat takes pride in the experience. For example, we customize our very own wax mixture; STB WOW WAX! Our clients instantly rave about our wax! It is compatible for all skin and hair types and is known for removing the hair painlessly; leaving a gentle finish to the clients skin. STB WOW WAX is just one of the components that make our experience unique. Over the course of 3 years, the making and development of the Seek.The.Beat brand has been a humbling one but the best advice is to never give up! Always keep going! No matter what is going on around me or my business, I continue to believe. I started this business going against everything that I was taught and that was renting a space with zero clientele. I had no idea if I was even going to get the clientele to pay the rent that I just signed up for. Talk about taking risks; but I believed! I believed that with me meeting God halfway with my hardwork and determination, I was bound to attract this blessing of building a solid clientele base. I took everything one day at a time. Sometimes feeling as if I bit off more than I could chew but I stayed in the race and continued to remind myself to celebrate the small wins.

This is my remedy. I’m further than I was yesterday. I am still building Seek.The.Beat brick by brick, but I believe I am unstoppable and this is what I want the world to know!

Stay tuned because the best is yet to come!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love San Diego! This is paradise to me! We have so many great places that make up the city and I haven’t even experienced a fraction of them yet. I have only lived here for four years but I have selected a few spots as my favorites already. If my best friend we’re to come visit I would definitely take them to Seek.The.Beat, Torrey Pines to hike, Beach house for daytime drinks and vibes, R&B Sunday Brunch Event, Crab hut for good eats, Fashion Valley Mall, Rose Donuts Shop, Cannonball for Sushi and Beach Vibes, Cascade Spa, The Habor cruise, and many more!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, friends, and unbelievably loyal clients are who deserves all the credit. Without them, I honestly would be nowhere! You know how they say it takes a village to raise a child? Well, Seek.The.Beat is my baby and I truly believe that everyone played an intricate role in how far the company has come. From my friends physically handing out flyers with me in the Costco parking lot when I had zero clients, to my family giving me a place to stay and food to eat free of charge, to my friends and family who has consistently pulled up when I needed help, and to everyone (friends, family, and clients) supporting Seek.The.Beat by receiving services, spreading the word to their closest people, and by posting or reposting my content on social media. Nothing goes unnoticed and I am so appreciative.
