Meet Kristin Welch: Jewelry designer and hopeful encourager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Welch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Success can be defined by a multitude of things. How much money you make. How many likes or followers you have. How well known you are in the world of artistry or social media. Success for me was dependent on one thing, could I reach the one person who needed to be seen, heard, to meet their heart in the place it needed to be met? My goal from day one, was to reach just one person. If I could make a difference for just one…the person who needed to hear my story, or have their story heard. The person who needed to be reminded of what was true about them in their lives. The person who needed encouragement, or realness, raw stories and genuine relatability, an understanding in a world that doesn’t offer much grace. Sure, the bank figures always help, and the more likes you get, the more you can assume you are headed in the right direction. But for me, hearing the stories behind the pieces, the testimonies of the givers and the receivers, sharing their hearts for why the piece meant so much, giving me the freedom to create something from my heart as a representation of theirs. It gives me an opportunity, to not only create something that is special and unique, but a chance to minister to the hearts of the broken and hurting, the spirits of the ones seeking joy and peace, and to the memories of their hearts, giving me the honor of imprinting that memory in metal, forever. My success has come from not being afraid to build relationships with the people I am creating for, praying for the clients I am blessed with, and trusting that the gift I have been given, is being used to plant truth into the hearts, minds, and spirits of those I am partnering with in creating something special. I wouldn’t trade the one for a million followers, I wouldn’t give up that one special piece that meant more than the world for a million without a story, because I know at the end of the day, the value I have brought to their vision, has gifted me a vision far greater. The ability to bless others is my why, my success story, and my motivation to keep doing what I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create hand stamped jewelry. I am self taught and am always seeking to learn more and try new concepts in my designs. My clients give me so much freedom to create my visions, and that has set me apart from so many. What we envision in creation can be represented in so many ways, and I have been blessed to be surrounded by people to love and appreciate what I do. I always take it to God first, allow Him to start me out with what I should be creating. As I create, I get into a space where His hands work though mine, and I end up with some really special pieces. It’s not easy being an artist without a specific design or look. Promoting yourself from a place of full organic nature is difficult. I have tried to be streamline and create lines of jewelry that promote my brand, but at the end of the day, I fight the battle, because there is nothing consistent in my work, as I am led by the spirit and my heart. Every single piece is different. And my clients, they come from an organic place, seeking work that carries more than a physical presence. I am a feeler by nature, an empath to the millionth degree. I feel the stories, resonate with the heartache, and seek guidance as I help carry the burdens of my clients. That is a true gift. My hope in what I do, is that I always create something that is a piece of someone’s heart represented in a tangible way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beach at sunset is by far the best, some small local coffee shops and bakeries in Carlsbad are a real treasure. Jumping down to San Diego to watch the planes land, Balboa Park for a taste of art, Julian for a real experience of small town for some hard cider and pie, and the local tavern close to my community, 508 Tavern in Vista, where you can commune with the regulars, make some new friends, and have some legit grub.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, God. My gift is His and I will always give the firsts of that to Him. My husband and 4 girls, for always encouraging me and supporting me, even when I doubt myself and my path. My best friends, you know who you are, for always encouraging me and filling my spirit with words of truth. My amazing clients, who see my heart in my vision and give me the freedom to allow His work to shine through me!
