Meet Lizz Lang | Art Services, including art installations, placement, framing, transport & handling.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizz Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizz, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business started due to Divine Guidance and timing. There was not a lot of thought process, only moving along the path that brought me to where I am now, a very successful Art Services business owner in Southern California and beyond!!
An important part of becoming an entrepreneur was the fact that I was not very successful being an employee, in fact, I was fired from the first three jobs!! As I paid attention to this trend I realized that being self-employed was a much better fit for me! Plus, my mentor and my hero was also self-employed, and she was my Mother! It felt very natural to me to be a business owner and I am very grateful everyday I head out to another artful adventure!

What should our readers know about your business?
Lizz Lang Art Services is a well-recognized and respected Art Services business with many repeat clientele. I feel we are a Brand of service that well exceeds our competition, which for many years was non-existent! We are so happy to provide a level of professionalism and efficiency that our clients have come to expect. The many Designers, Showrooms, Galleries, and Vendorships that we service have been working with us for years on a variety of projects. We have clients that fly us on private jets to their properties, or we provide art transport to their out-of-state locations with our fleet of Mercedes Sprinter vans.
When I started this business in 1985 here in San Diego, I was framing artwork for R.W Smith, a restaurant design firm, when the designer asked me to install the 20 pieces we were framing on security hardware. I had no idea what that was and looked through my many catalogues until I found something that would work. After trying it out in my frame shop. I told her I could do the job, and how life-changing that job was!! Right there, that day in 1985, I found my life’s calling! This is what I want to do, install artwork!! Of course, I have worked very hard and often solo, pursuing my calling, but all along the way, help has come and also success.
My gratitude to God and my Mother for guiding me to my career is uttered on a daily basis. She was not only an artist, but an Interior Designer, and being able to work with people in their homes and work spaces has given me so much satisfaction that words cannot express!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely LOVE living in Southern California and have several favorite spots throughout SD County!!
Let’s say they arrive on a Monday, that evening we would go to the Brigantine here in Escondido to enjoy their all-day Happy Hour Monday. The menu is great and the price is right!!
Tuesday we would have to go to Balboa Park when some of the amazing Museums are free admission or at least discounted. I love to walk the rose garden pathways and visit with the oldest trees in the city! Drinks & dinner at The Prado is also an absolute must-not-miss experience after enjoying the local vendors and entertainers in the Park!
Wednesday is a not-to-miss experience in Ocean Beach with their hippy version of a Farmers Market. The market is great but even better is the beach park right at the foot of the Pier, where locals come to jam with their instruments and become very entertaining!! Tight-rope walkers, hoola-hoops and a very awesome drum circle is surrounded with a spectacle of dancers. If you’re lucky, you can get the window seat at the near by Wonderland Ocean Pub to see the sunset and the festivities from the comfort of your table.
Thursday would be a perfect beach day because rest and relaxation are now a must! We would hit one of my many favorite beaches, like Moonlight, Fletchers Cove, La Jolla Shores or even Oceanside Harbor where we would end up at the California Grill to enjoy their Happy Hour right on the water!
The weekend is now beginning on Friday and time to find some nightime entertainment. If it’s in the summer, we would definitely go the Cruisin Grand here in Escondido to enjoy a hugh collection of vintage cars and people! We love our little town and enjoy this event almost 6 months of the year. We could also go to the Calilfornia Center for the Arts Escondido for a live performance of music, dance, comedy or cultural events, Love Escondido!
Saturday is our day to venture downtown San Diego, with all the many places and sites to see. I love a little spontenaity so that is what we are giving ourselves for this special day in beautiful San Diego!! We can also venture into Little Italy which has one of the largest Farmers Markets and street entertainment in the area. So many great restaurants to try and many amazing places to see. And lets not forget a stroll around the Harbor, with the infamous ‘Kissing’ statue at Seaport Village and the Star of India at the Martime Museum. Plus a short trip across the border to Old Town, a beautiful Hispanic area that is not to be missed. A day downtown is always a big adventure and I am so grateful to live so close to it!
Sunday I would invite my friends to my very special Christian Mystic church called Questhaven, located in north county in San Marcos. It is a 660 acre Retreat Center that I have been a part of since 2009, This is a very special spiritual center that I am grateful to have in my life! The Service at 10:45 is followed by a delicious potluck luncheon and a stroll on the grounds. After that, we can stop at my favorite winery in San Marcos, Sunshine Mountain Winery, and enjoy a bottle of wine and some live music, plus the views are amazing. Life doesn’t get any better than this!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This Lifetime has been given to me by a Higher Power of Intelligence, AKA God, and is truly the very best life I have had to date. My recognition of important Soul’s on my path is firstly, my precious, talented and inspiring Mother, Norma Benjamin. I have written the story of our life together because it has been so profound and adventuresome! She has given me so much exampleship and encouragement to become all that God has meant for me to be!
My husband of 35 years, Raul Valenzuela, has greatly helped me become the successful entrepreneur that I am, and his middle son, Reuben Valenzuela, worked with me over 25 years to grow the business before moving to Chicago in 2023.
The other most important person on my path is my current General Manager and Vice-President of our corporation, Jim Stewart. His ownership skills and his business partnering is taking the business over the top of my success to our success! My deepest gratitude goes out to these beautiful Souls for taking this amazing journey with me!
