We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Casas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think of risk as stepping outside of the box, the box of comfort. The box of comfort is warm and fuzzy, but its no fun and it gets you nowhere. Growing up, I was curious and restless. I was always was always busy trying to figure out how things works or looking for another way to achive better results which was risking getting in trouble or failure by not following the rules or instructions. I was also a somewhat thrill seeker that pushed myself in the areas that were available to me growing up be it riding bikes, skateboards or skiing. Putting myself out there in positions of extreme challenge and harm makes everything else seem easy and not as risky, like risking breaking an arm, leg or falling off a cliff (of which I did all 3 skiing and skateboarding).

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Its always been about passion and doing it because I love it. Both my grandfathers died from heart desise at young ages before I was born. So I thought I/we had a funky gene and I was going to do the same. Fearing that, I clearly lived a (somewhat responsible) life as if I were ging to die young, so I said yes to most everything with a lets do it now attitude. I also grew up in a family business. Textbook education board me to death knowing I already had a job and business waiting for me, plus there was a good chance I keel over in my 30’s like my grandfathers did, so school was a waste of time. I had other things I wanted to do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Growing up in California, I find comfort and enjoy the beaches, the forrests, the mountains, and the deserts. They are all very inspirational and humbeling. At the beach, we would soak in the sun, take in the beauty, and get lost in conversastion dreaming about all the grand things life has provided and still has to offer. In the forrests and mountains would be mountain biking and exploring our physical limits while finding inspirational vistas, moments and exhillorating decents. In the desert, we would golf, 4×4, and expore areas looking for inspiration, motivation, and seperation to find ourselves and find new ideas and answers.
