We had the good fortune of connecting with Zifei Ding and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zifei, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I am a seasoned branding and visual communication designer, has dedicated years to refining brand identities through compelling visual narratives. By merging creative vision with strategic design, the designer has consistently elevated brand stories to new heights.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I use my design and creativity to serve my clients and bring them greater value. This is what I am most proud of. For example, I redesigned the brand for an outdoor brand before. This was a difficult challenge. I tried to consider the value of the brand to the company from more details and perspectives. Each of my designs is based on the user’s perspective, so that users and brands can form a strong connection directly. After this project, I will design again. I think all designs are not for a certain client or company. The real design is for the public. What the public likes is what the company likes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I graduated from ACCD. I have lived in California for the past few years. I have tried to visit every city in California. I think the weather, nature and life in California bring a lot of inspiration to my creativity. I find that every place has its own uniqueness, but every place has its most attractive place. I feel that the diversity of design is just like the diversity of our lifestyle. More interesting designs bring greater value to everyone.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I guess it is a cook book. As you know I love to cook—not just for the final dish, but for the art itself. Cooking is a craft of intuition and skills, knowing the language of spices, wielding tools like instruments, and reading the mood of those who gather to eat. It’s not about rigid recipes, but the dance of flavors, guided by instinct and experience. Like a good cook, a designer must also be attuned to the subtleties of the craft. A designer reads the client’s unspoken desires, balancing aesthetics and function, much like a chef balances flavors. Design, like cooking, transcends the mere creation of a dish or a product—it is a journey to understand, connect, and leave a lasting impression
