Meet Ronny And Nikki Tompot | Owners and Operators, Wine Country Weddings & The Nook

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronny And Nikki Tompot and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronny and Nikki, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
We started with a traditional family dynamic—one parent working full-time while the other stayed home with the kids. But as entrepreneurs raising three daughters, we realized we wanted a different kind of work-life balance. One where we had control over our schedules, so we wouldn’t have to miss games, performances, or those little everyday moments that matter most.
For us, family time is everything. By building our own family business, we’ve created a life where neither of us carries the full weight of work or home alone. Instead, we share the load, setting an example of balance and independence for our daughters. Our hope is that they grow up knowing they can carve their own path, support themselves, and build a life they love.
As business owners, we do it all—scrubbing floors, fixing toilets, rubbing elbows with influential people, and crafting meals for couples on one of the most important days of their lives. We believe in hard work, but even more than that, we believe in being present. Because at the end of the day, success isn’t just about how far you go—it’s about who you get to cheer on along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After leaving successful careers in the hospitality and casino industries, we set out to build something of our own—something rooted in passion, hard work, and heart. We started at the very bottom, washing dishes, bussing tables and serving guests, and flipping burgers at concession stands. Step by step, brick by brick, we’ve built this business from the ground up, with no shortcuts, no big breaks—just grit, determination, and an unwavering love for what we do.
Being small business owners in California hasn’t been easy. We’ve faced challenges, made mistakes, and learned countless lessons along the way. But through it all, we’ve stuck together, growing not just as business partners, but as a family. And along the way, we’ve built a team that has become our family, too.
There’s no greater feeling than standing back after an event (usually sweaty and exhausted), seeing the joy in our guests’ faces, and knowing we played a small part in their special moments. That’s why we do this—not just to serve meals, but to create experiences, to bring people together, and to make our guests feel at home. Every event we cater is treated as if it were our own, because we understand the weight of what our clients experience. Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate gathering, or a celebration at The Nook, we are honored to be part of these milestones.
At the heart of it all, we want people to know one thing—we truly care. And we always will.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you’re visiting Temecula, your first stop has to be Old Town. Of course, the dining and boutique shopping are big draws, but there’s also a fascinating history tour and a ghost tour that gives you a deeper appreciation for the history of this charming town.
Most visitors make a beeline for the well-known wineries, but we love steering our friends toward the hidden gems—the smaller, family-run spots where the wine flows just as freely, but the crowds and long lines don’t. The best experiences, in our opinion, are found at those intimate wineries with live music and friendly staff, where you can sip, savor, and soak in the laid-back vibe that makes Temecula so special.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our work ethic is a direct reflection of our parents and the sacrifices they made to create a better life for their kids. Ronny’s parents were hardworking entrepreneurs who ran their own business from home while raising three children. Nikki’s dad balanced careers as an air traffic controller and a salesman, while her mom, a dedicated teacher with a master’s degree, showed the power of education and perseverance.
From all four of them, we learned the value of hard work, that money doesn’t grow on trees, and that nothing worth having comes easy. They encouraged us to find what we love and build careers around it—because work is so much more fulfilling when it’s something you’re passionate about.
Watching Nikki’s dad travel frequently made us realize we wanted to build a life where we could stay close to home and be present for our own kids on a daily basis. And Ronny’s dad taught us that no job is too insignificant—if you’re making an honest living in your own business, that’s what matters. Both of our moms showed us that sometimes, the woman might step up to be the breadwinner, the backbone, AND the one handling the school and sports activities for the kids.
