We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Brittany Clayborne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Brittany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business because the space was empty. There was no one building spaces for critical illness evolution, and that’s what I needed as I was navigating my critical illness. I needed to be empowered to thrive through it and I thought other could use the same encouragement.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career is a reflection of resilience, purpose, and transformation. As someone who has survived six heart attacks, a heart transplant, and cancer, I’ve turned my life experiences into a mission to inspire and empower others. My work is grounded in the belief that no matter how difficult the circumstances, there is always an opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive.

What sets me apart is my ability to merge my personal journey with my professional expertise in psychology and emotional wellness. Through initiatives like the *SOAR Leadership Cohort* and my work with IMPAkT, I’ve created programs and tools that help people build healthier communities and stronger connections with themselves. I’m also proud of my advocacy for organ donation, which allows me to honor the gift of life I’ve received and inspire others to consider its profound impact.

Getting to where I am today has been far from easy. Each challenge—from my health crises to moments of doubt—has tested my strength, but it has also taught me the power of faith, support, and perseverance. I’ve learned to transform pain into purpose and to see every obstacle as a stepping stone for personal growth.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of community, the necessity of self-care, and the beauty of vulnerability. These lessons are woven into everything I do because I believe they are the keys to meaningful transformation.

What I want the world to know about me and my work is that I am committed to helping others be the best version of themselves. I aim to create spaces where people feel empowered to embrace their journeys and evolve into the best versions of themselves. My story is one of overcoming, but more importantly, it’s a testament to the power of hope, healing, and purpose.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t have specific places by name in mind but we would spend a great deal of time exploring artistic expression through museums, live music, and ballet or theatre performances. She loved cigars so we would probably find a great cigar bar and play a couple of games of chess. We would definitely have sushi a couple of time and perhaps take in a movie. But besides that we would dance in the living room and have conversations that change the world.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends have carried me through so many of my hard days I would have a story without them. From my mom to my son, and godchildren, to my donor family and so many others, I wouldn’t be here without them.
