We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmin Meza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmin, what inspires you?
I was inspired by the mundane reality I faced as a receptionist working a 9-5 job. Although it was comfortable, it lacked fulfillment. My days felt like a cycle of temporary distractions, and I wasn’t truly living the life I wanted. Everything changed when my father passed away—it was a wake-up call. His death made me confront a question I had been avoiding: if I were to die tomorrow, would I be satisfied with how I was living? The answer was no. My father’s passing forced me to realize that no one was coming to save me or change my life for me. I had to take control and create the life I truly desired. This realization inspired me to pursue content creation, a path that brings me joy and allows me to live authentically. I was also able to combine this transformation with something else I love—cooking. Creating content around food brought me closer to understanding who I am as a person. It allowed me to express my creativity and reconnect with my cultural roots, all while building a life that aligns with my passions. Cooking became more than just a hobby; it became a part of my identity and a way for me to share that with others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t really want to focus on what sets me apart from others because, in many ways, I’m just like a lot of people here in San Diego. I grew up experiencing trauma, witnessing domestic violence in my parents’ relationship, and seeing my father battle drug addiction and alcoholism. But I refused to let that define my future or become just another statistic. I’m living proof that you can change your path, no matter what society or your circumstances say you’re “destined” to become.

It was not easy to get where I am today. The biggest challenge was learning to trust and believe in myself. I had to build confidence and hold myself accountable to the promises I made to myself. Whether it was reaching out to restaurants and brands to offer my content creation services, or facing rejection, those small actions built up my confidence. I knew I was doing what was necessary to climb out of the hole I had felt trapped in.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that winners are often just those who have failed the most. They’re the ones who took chances, not waiting for perfection but simply taking action, no matter the odds. That’s something I want people to take from my story.

I also want the world to know that my brand represents more than just me—it represents the Hispanic and Latino community. We are often underrepresented in so many spaces, including content creation. Through my own success, I hope to inspire other Latino creators to step into their own light, to recognize that their past does not define their future, and to know they have the power to change their own story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here’s a perfect one-day itinerary to give my best friend the ultimate San Diego experience:

• Breakfast: Start the day with authentic Mexican brunch at Cocina 35, known for the best chilaquiles in town.
• Lunch: Head to Fat Boy’s Deli for the best sandwiches in San Diego, then enjoy them at Seaport Village while taking in the stunning waterfront views and exploring the shops.
• Afternoon: Visit Coronado Island for a beach walk or some sightseeing.
• Dinner: Dine at Il Fornaio in Coronado for an Italian feast—bruschetta, rigatoni alla vodka, and wine.
• Nightcap: End the evening at Lou Lou’s Jungle Room for cocktails and live jazz in a cozy, retro setting.

It’s a full day of food, views, and unforgettable vibes!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a special shoutout to my uncle, José Alvarado, founder of Visionary Media (@yoursocialmediaguy). He has been both a mentor and a guiding light in my journey. He steered me in the right direction with powerful advice and helped me navigate the early stages of my content creation career. His belief in my abilities taught me that I was capable of transforming my life into the dream I’ve always envisioned. He paved the way for our family’s future generations in content creation, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.
