We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I love this question, because as an entrepreneur I have encountered blow after blow when it comes to building my brand. I have had my Meta Ad account disabled, I have had inventory issues, cash flow issues, and yet here I am. Still standing strong and pushing forward because I believe so much in my brand that giving up has never been an option. It has always been how do I overcome this next hurdle. And when I do, I feel so invincible and ready to take on the next challenge! But celebrating the small wins in between has also helped me to stay strong and keep going!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Silk Skin Co. was birth out of my own need to find an escape from reality. As a wife and mother of two kiddos (boy and girl, 6 and 4), I found myself in the thickest and deepest parts of postpartum depression during the 2020 COVID pandemic.

I just had my daughter and like everyone else I was stuck in the house with a new baby, a work from home job that I hated, and a weird feeling of incompleteness that I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

After a bit of research I realized that I was dealing with PPD and what I was experiencing was an extreme lack of self identity as I had been so wrapped up in everything and everyone else but myself. So I decided that I wanted to get out of my slump/funk and do something about it.

Remaining in a state of unhappiness was no longer an option and that’s when I decided to start taking my selfcare and personal care seriously even though I wasn’t able to go anywhere. In particular I started focusing on my skincare routine and implemented a few products that started to make me feel so much better about myself. And the rest is history.

Silk Skin Co was born out of my own need as a mom to shake the mom guilt of always having to be the go to for everyone else, and never leaving time or effort for myself. I started with a few personal care devices and eventually expanded to the skincare line and I am just so proud of myself for how far I have come as well as the brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a SoCal Girl so I would definitely do a mini road trip to some of my favorite spots. We would start in the desert and do a spa day in Palm Springs/Palm Desert to get super relaxed and reenergized!

Then we would head down to San Diego for some good eats, maybe a boat ride, and bar hop for a good time.

Then we would make our way up the coast and head to a beach or two like Santa Monica to experience LA and all its craziness!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my family, and specifically my husband Kameron. We have been married for 10 years and together 17. So he has seen his fair share of shenanigans that have come from my crazy entrepreneur brain! But he has always been beyond encouraging and supportive. Pushing me to never give up, and always giving me ideas when it comes to marketing or networking to help my brand grow!
