Meet Milly Marie | Burlesque Dancer and Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Milly Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Milly, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Communication and loyalty

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my burlesque career in December 2013. It was such a different time, the community was smaller and more competitive. I’m grateful that was something we all grew out of and was something I never agreed with. I began producing themed burlesque show with a troupe that I formed called Bless your heart burlesque in 2015, that’s where my true creativity soared. I got into what’s called nerdlesque (cos play meets burlesque). When the pandemic hit that changed a lot for our career. More online shows during the shut down to slowly doing shows. I moved from Normal Heights to Ramona which is a huge change and it’s here I’m producing Milly burlesque honky tonk, the only place you can find burlesque in Ramona. With almost 11 years under my belt I’ve learned how to deal with venue owners, big showgirl personalities and even my own growth with my mental health and feeling myself grow and change.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a sucker for a good tourist adventures. I’m talking do the ghost tours, do the bay tour, check out old town. The works. Of course I have to take them to any corner street taco shop. We have to spend a day on the beach and I love Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. El Carrito has some of the BEST coffee. Las cuatro milpas is a hidden San Diego secret that has some of the best tortillas. They close at three but get there early because they sell out of everything.
