We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaelyn Marie Fuglaar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaelyn Marie, how do you think about risk?
I think the word “risk” naturally has a negative connotation to it and I don’t think it should. I think of risk as an opportunity. An opportunity to learn, grow, get better, or maybe an opportunity to massively win. I started my business on risk. I was laid off from a job the month before, I was making no income, and I still decided to go for it. I’m a firm believer in starting before you’re ready or before you feel ready. That’s how I’ve approached most things in my life and I always get better with time. I’ve taken many risks in my life and tried everything from real estate to network marketing to social media influencer. If I stopped taking risks, I wouldn’t have the 6 figure Virtual Assistant agency I have now.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m so thankful for my business and where I’m at today. After 6 months of being a Virtual Assistant, I was able to scale to 6 figures. After 8 months, I’ve now grown into an agency, have a team of 3 incredible women under me, and I get to help coach other Virtual Assistants to grow their business. It may seem like it happened quickly, and it did, but I truly have been an entrepreneur for 10 years. I’ve learned so much along the way. I’ve lost money, I’ve taken on debt to pay for things that didn’t pan out, but most importantly, I didn’t give up on the life I always wanted. I know that sounds so cliche but it’s true. I was never going to settle for a 9-5 office job. It took some massive trial and error and figuring out what I really love, but I found it. And I’m proud of that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m in Redding, CA and our family absolutely loves it. If I had a friend visiting, the places we would eat would include: Theory Coffee, From The Hearth, Final Draft, Deja Vu, Mosaic and View 202.

We’d go to The Park one night for live music and food trucks. We’d also hang downtown and make sure we go to the farmers market.

For outdoor adventures, we would head to Whiskeytown Lake, Shasta Lake, Burney Falls, Castle Craggs, and McCloud Falls. We’d probably spend a day in Mount Shasta too and get some snowball fights in.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has been my rock through all my crazy ideas and business ventures. He has a heart of gold, he’s the voice of reason for me, and he really helps me love people and myself better. June 2024 marks 10 years with him and I couldn’t be more thankful.

I also have to give a shoutout to my parents. Especially my dad. Both my mom and dad are incredible and although they don’t always understand me, they always support me. My dad introduced me to network marketing at the age of 20 and I truly wouldn’t be here if that didn’t happen. He opened my eyes to the possibility of building a business and life of your dreams and since then, I worked to make that a reality.
