We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Warmington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been running Adam Warmington Productions for over a decade. Prior to that, I was in Television. As creating videos for the internet became more of a viable option for brands, I too felt a pull in that direction. The flexibility of hours enabled me to have more time to pursue other passions like surfing and in later years, to be with my family. Creatively and financially, it was a no brainer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a filmmaker specializing in short form elevated documentaries. Short, cinematic films about real people that connect with the viewer on an emotional level. I don’t know what sets me apart, but I do know that being curious and courteous is 90% of what I do. Creating a mellow filming environment whether it’s 3 of us on a NGO shoot, or 40 of us on a big commercial is absolutely the most important thing.

I got to where I am today (wherever that is) by embracing luck and following opportunities. There are countless anecdotal junctures I could point to, but I think it just comes down to making a series of small decisions. I just try to create what I think is cool and stay honest to my inherent sensibilities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Bay Area is incredible. It has it all, vibrant culture, empty nature and everything in between. If someone was visiting we’d go surfing, then get food at Hook fish co either in the Sunset district of SF or in Mill Valley. We’d pop into Prooflab, the best surf shop in the world, then maybe up to Seawood photo to grab some film and check out all the goodies. Then maybe back to mine for a bbq on the deck followed by a hot tub.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

My dad was the first creative person I knew and is still a constant source of inspiration.

Later, in meeting my wife around the age of 25, she showed me you could just ‘be’ an artist full time. I always thought people could create art on the side, but would always have to do their main job. She was part of a cohort of artists in Laguna beach and all her friends had similar goals. Make cool stuff all the time, that’s it ! It was so refreshing.

Today I am fortunate to be surrounded by a ton of inspirational people. Ben Henretig, Noah Stout, Amanda Sheeran, Nick Lawrence, Amber Janis to name a few. All these wonderful humans and more feed my creativity daily.
