We had the good fortune of connecting with Valerie Wiener and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valerie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Before starting my own business, I always felt that a 9-5 wasn’t for me. I knew that there was more for me out there and felt like I had the perseverance, passion & drive to create something of my own, to build a legacy and pass down to my children.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others? I am a certified herbalist, a creative entrepreneur, mother, wife, herbal teacher, and sobriety advocate.
I create curated herbal preparations, spiritual, artisan tools, offer teachings for both herbal remedy making with native plants and sobriety guidance.
I am someone who was at a very low point in my life back in 2019 where I had lost everything due to addiction and was on the verge of losing my life but I got a saving grace handed to me by a lady who I I didn’t even know, and was also living on the streets where I was at and she came up to me and told me it’s time to get help and ever since that moment I have been healing myself and working towards what I know to be my souls true purpose to share my story, to share the wisdom I have gained through overcoming all of the hardships. I am proud to share my story with others with the hope of that it can benefit someone who might be in the same position as I was all those years ago. I want to be that light in the darkness to let them know that there is a way out. It won’t be easy and it will hurt at times but it will be damn worth it the end. The only way out is through.

How did you get to where you were today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
I got to where I was today professionally by never wavering on my drive & perseverance to go after my dreams, to Trust my intuition & gut instincts always.
It wasn’t easy getting started due to imposter syndrome, intrusive thoughts of not being good enough, and all other sorts of dark thoughts one can think of when starting to create their business and dreams into reality. But having a great support system to lean on such as my husband, my genuine friends, my is what help me overcome these Challenges.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you and your brand and story ?
Some of the most important lessons that I have learned along the way, is to always trust your gut instincts & You can’t do everything on your own even if you think you can. Your mental health and overall well-being Will thank you for letting go of that control and letting others help when needed. And lastly that, if what you are creating & doing makes you happy, then that’s all that matters!.
The overall take away, that I want the world to know about me, my brand, and my story is that as someone who has been through her share of darkness in life, as a recovering alcoholic and addict, a midnight ballerina, a survivor of sexual assault, I know how scary it can be to try to climb out of that dark hole, but you can do it, You are not alone, You are worthy of the life that you dream of. I am here to be that guide in the dark for those who are tired of living in survival mode, to show how connecting to Mother Earth, slowing down can help us on all levels.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my close friends came to visit me and my area, I would have to start off our weekend by grabbing some dinner at Thai chili in Calimesa Ca, they have the best tofu yellow curry & appetizers , then we would have to go grab dessert at a place in downtown Yucaipa where they have so many different options from regular ice cream to artisan ice cream waffle sandwiches. In the morning we would wake up and go grab a delicious coffee from Lucid coffee at village bread in Calimesa and while we were there, we would get a freshly baked pastry that are to die for! After filling ourselves, we would go take a nice drive up to some hiking trails in Oak Glen or the San Bernardino national Forest. I would have to make sure that before my friend left, we would have to visit roast the dead coffee & monstros sandwich & sub shop to fulfill all of our spooky horror movie love while also getting some delicious things to drink & eat. There are so many unique and fun places to visit and things to do in Yucaipa, Calimesa, oak glen , and San Bernardino national Forest.!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out & give a huge thank you to my husband who has been my biggest supporter and number one fan through this journey of finding my souls true path & has always encouraged me to go after my dreams and my passions. Another person I want to give recognition to is Jason Keeney, my favorite farmer & close friend, he believed in me, and my dreams, saw my passion and visions of what I wanted to build, and took that chance on me gave, me a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a strong and sturdy foundation without social media (cause that was the journey I was on for years).
Another shout out goes to the one person I couldn’t have gotten my reach on social media without, my dearest friend Vanessa holub, who understood why I wanted to stay away from those platforms for the time being, and she handled all the promotional reach. Until I was ready.
Lastly I want to thank everyone I have crossed paths with since the beginning of my journey creating my business, all the genuine, organic connections I have built with amazing people who have showed so much support and love. Thank you.
