Where are you from and how did your background and upbringing impact who you are today?


Through our work we have had the good fortune of seeing firsthand how success comes in every shape, size, color, faith, and orientation. More importantly we’ve learned that success is often the result of people embracing their unique backgrounds and so we’ve asked the community to tell us about their background and how it has impacted where they are today.

I’m originally from Bogota, Colombia, my parents and I immigrated to the states when I was around 5-6 years old. This played a huge role in my upbringing because I felt like I didn’t have enough time to learn the customs of my birthplace and I didn’t have anyone to show me the customs of this “new world”. When I was 15 years old, I ended up in Los Padrinos because of constant fighting and cop intervention between my brother and I. My mom had no way of controlling me she told me, as I was always taking her car, skipping school, getting high, and overall, not caring about life because of the way i grew up. Read more>>
