Reflecting on the things that made a difference

We asked some of the city’s rising stars to reflect on what made a difference in their journey. We asked them to tell us about what they think the most important factor has been behind their success.

The most important factor behind my success has honestly been love and support. Support from loved ones, friends, coworkers, people I’ve collaborated with, my community, and businesses who all believed in my work and what I do. We feel the success of our brand comes from our commitment to our values. We created Fox and Tim Productions as a liberation practice, a radical act of resistance against the systems oppressing trans and queer people. We resist by centering and elevating our siblings most impacted by these systems with a goal of shared economy and a belief that we are abundant as a collective. This looks like paying a high base rate, sharing tips collectively, centering nonwhite and multiply-marginalized performers and crew, asking no one to work for free, offering a platform and promotion to other trans artists and entrepreneurs, and emphasizing messages of revolution, collectivism, and police & prison abolition.
