Meet Brooke Mallory | Visual Artist and Animator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Mallory and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, what inspires you?
I find inspiration in the chaos and unpredictability of American culture, media, and politics, using surreal elements to reflect the absurdity and hidden truths of the world we live in. My art is a gateway to my imagination, where I can bring forth fantastical ideas and explore unconventional concepts. I find inspiration in pushing the boundaries of reality and creating visually striking and thought-provoking imagery.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My pieces often feature bold, vibrant colors, exaggerated and distorted figures, and a sense of dark humor. My paintings in particular are characterized by their chaotic and frenetic compositions, filled with an array of diverse subjects. I incorporate elements from popular culture, everyday life, politics, history, and commemoration, creating a visual commentary on society and theories I have regarding these topics.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to a nice restaurant in Pacific Beach or La Jolla. My current favorite restaurant is JRDN at the lower level of Tower 23. Then we would go see live stand up comedy or grab a drink at a local rowdy dive bar where you can typically find more interesting people with extremely entertaining stories.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my dad for always supporting my artistic dreams and providing insight as to how I should go about my process to get my thoughts and ideas on canvas or paper.
