Meet Maud Lazzerini | Owner of Glitz Entertainment – a boutique production company

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maud Lazzerini and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maud, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I would say outsiders probably don’t realize how many hours we work. Photography and videography looks very glamorous from the outside and most people don’t realize how industrious it can be and how many hours of work are needed between prep, shoot, post-production and all the other aspect of any business such as marketing, customer service, etc…A regular day of work for me averages around 14 to 16hrs and I am only able to take one weekend off a month.
I feel that when people enter a coffee shop or a bakery, they would never question that this work, but there is something about media-related work that might make them feel that this is all just for fun.
And as result, a lot of people are contacting my company everyday to ask us to work for free, or, on the funny side, are interrupting a shot while we are filming just to be in front of the camera. Haha.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think my background is what sets Glitz Entertainment apart.
I am from France, and used to work as a director for one of the country’s biggest agencies, and during that time, I worked on large-scale commercial campaign for brands such as Tinder, Coca-Cola, Nissan… But before that, I worked on several, now awarded, short films that I wrote and directed; the kind of love projects that you just have to make happen no matter what, and with whatever budget you will find.
All this has led me to be able to be creative in finding ways to deliver the highest quality content to small businesses. The goal when I opened Glitz Entertainment was always to create tailor-made content for artists and small businesses that can’t have access to a larger agency. So basically I keep the production scale small to avoid huge cost, but deliver a final product that is unique to our client. And I wouldn’t have been able to do that, have I not worked on both large-scaled commercial campaigns and passion projects.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my…LA has so much to offer, but I’d say I would first take them on a hike at Griffith Park, the Glendale Peak Trail is my favorite to do with friends visiting because they can see everything : Hollywood sign, Observatory, LA skyline and even the Ocean when the sky is clear. Then I would take them to Formosa Café for Dinner. It’s one of my favorites.
On the second day of their visit, I would start the day with some shopping and thrifting on Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank, and coffee at Romancing the Bean, then an afternoon trip in Malibu, followed by a Solstice Canyon Hike and a picnic at Sunset on the Beach.
For out of town visitors, I think a day at the Academy Museum and LACMA is a must, then followed by dinner at Laurel Hardware. I would probably to do this on Sunday to go to the Farmer’s Market on Melrose before.
Then, I would most likely take them on a two day trip out of town to Ventura, Santa Barbara, Solvang and have dinner and spent the night at Madonna Inn. That’ s my favorite place to stay and take some actual time off in California.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The team of freelancers I often work with deserves a big shoutout starting with model, hair and makeup artist Kara Spade, who is always such an inspiration for me. It is so important to surround yourself with other talented professional but also with people you actually like to spend time with.
When I first started working as a director in France, I had the belief that all that matters was to deliver a great final product. But since then I have come to realize that the most important thing is to actually surround yourself with people you like to hang with and can become friends, because in the end, the people you work with are the one you spend the most time with.
I would also like to list a few of my small businesses and artist that I often work with: Dafna Beauty, Elle Rebel, Stevie Rosalie, Crystal Taylor.
