We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Randolph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I saw the quote “people are the best thing that can happen to us” on a trendy wall and it stuck with me. People are the reason I got into the field of social work and people are the reason I got into photography. In social work, we are trained to meet people where they’re at and that’s the same approach we take in photography and videography. Our goal is to be present with our couples by honoring and capturing the way that they show up. That’s where the magic happens; not in trying to chase perfection, but by trying to capture the real, raw, and human moments.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Randolph Photography officially started in March 2021 and, since then, I’ve invested a lot in education, mentors, and experiences. It’s been a challenging growth spurt and a beautiful journey. Since then, my husband has been able to have his own role in the business as videographer, so now, we are a photography and videography team. Weddings, elopements, LOVE. We encourage couples to come as they are. We aren’t here to capture perfection, but to capture a couple’s genuine story and more importantly, their genuine selves. Photos and videos should bring a couple back to an incredible chapter of their life. We want to capture their love story by focusing on the real, un-posed moments; the laughter, the tears, the shy smile they share when their partner looks at them like it is the first time. Our couples are the main characters! By remaining present with them and mindfully taking things from a more journalistic perspective, we hope to tell their story in an artful way. The goal is to be present with them and to celebrate the couple while honoring the way that they show up. We prioritize real over perfect and do not believe in editing anybody’s bodies for that reason. We will edit blemishes, but we will not contort anybody’s body because people should be empowered to love their whole selves. We want to foster that while striving for balance; a balance between raw and chic, between elegance and earthiness, between journalistic and artistic, between moody and natural tones, and finally, between the new and the nostalgic.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego is full of wonderful breweries and distilleries. A couple that we love are Cutwater Spirits, Kairoa, Belching Beaver, Saint Archer’s Brewery, and Ale Smith. For food, we enjoy Banh Thai, Brother’s Mexican Food, and Nozaru. We also love hiking, going to dog beaches, and coffee shops! Of course, there are also quiet sunset cliff spots that we enjoy. However, we are homebodies and one of our favorite things to do is chill at home, have friends over and, if we are feeling wild, play some board games!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Randolph Photography wouldn’t be possible without the support of the incredible people I have in my life, particularly my husband and my father. My husband saw the possibility when the idea of having my own photography business sounded ridiculous to me. My father insisted on buying me the camera without hesitation because he’s always supported any dream and interest of mine. Overall, I owe Randolph Photography to my family, my friends, and the wonderful couples I have the pleasure of working with. I am blessed to have their support as I learn and grow in this industry.
