We had the good fortune of connecting with Omid Sabet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Omid, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting all my businesses has always been being able to answer two questions. The first question I ask myself, “Is what I am creating needed in the marketplace?” If my answer is yes, then I follow up with, “How do I bring the utmost amount of value to my clients, while creating that solution?” The excitement of what’s possible around those two questions has always been the foundation behind starting my own businesses.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started +MVMNT (Positive Movement), an organization committed to empowering and inspiring fellow beings to make a positive movement towards creating a life of fulfillment, driven by purpose. We envision a world where we define “success” by our happiness and our positive impact on others. We offer a variety of online education solutions including customized online training to fit your specific business and/or personal goals. A portion of our sales from our brands “Be a Good Human” and “Kindness is Cool” go to supporting local charities. We are in the midst of launching the “Positive Movement Foundation”, a non-profit that will provide underprivileged at-risk children and youth with the tools that will increase their likelihood for success as they mature. Also, the foundation will support single working moms in giving their children a better chance at a normal childhood.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego is an absolutely incredible place with so much to do. When my friends visit me here, my favorite restaurants to take them to are Barbusa in Little Italy, Meze Greek fusion and El Chingon in downtown. Each choice has amazing food, great ambiance and incredible service. The three restaurants cover the variety of food that would give them a small taste of San Diego. My recommendation for fun activities would be a round of golf at Torrey Pines. If you like to be active, Penasquitos and Torey Pines are great places to hike, or you can take a 10-12 mile bike ride around mission bay. For more leisure time you can take a boat for a day off Coronado or lounge at one of our amazing beaches.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that have contributed to my growth over the years. Beginning with my parents and their undivided support to bring my dreams to life. They supported me with what they could to enable a good education and to follow my heart. Also the mentors in my life, like my first two bosses in my corporate jobs who encouraged me to pursue entrepreneurship, because they knew that’s where my heart was. I feel fortunate to have had so many people provide me valuable insight, feedback and advice over the years. Everyone of which played a part in my journey here.
