We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I want people to know that work, energy, care, creativity and heart goes into my food and what I make for you. It is why it costs more than a supermarket or a bakery.
What sets me apart is the challenge and excitement in making that perfect meal, dish, dessert for you in that moment of time. Something that makes you smile.
Getting to a place where you can have confidence in what you do is never easy. There is never enough money or time or resources at your disposal and sometimes there is nothing.
I started cooking at 29 y/o full of self doubt but full of curiosity. I am my own biggest challenge as my own insecurities and fears have kept me in safe work environments.
The pandemic happened and I like so many was laid off. I decided to bet on myself and opened my own business. I could have gone back to work. It has been the most fulfilling thing i ever have done professionally.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Chicano Park. It is beautiful and powerful. Breakfast/lunch at Las Cuatro Milpas. And then walk Barrio Logan once the shops and art galleries opened.
Then the tide pools/beach for a hike/sunset followed by Thai food because San Diego has the best Thai food.
That is a great day.
For a week I would take them to Tijuana for a day. Taco tours and the beach with a beer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My NYC community who supported me from day one in me starting my own business.
