We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Joslyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Many of you may remember my first article in the Voyager, where I spoke of my childhood and what inspired me to not only become an environmentalist, but also what eventually would become the inspiration for the Ecological Servants Project. My love for nature has become to me, but a reflection of the true glory that’s inspired me, and that glory is God.
I created the Ecological Servants Project to serve the first purpose the Lord gave humanity and that was to serve the Lord by cultivating and protecting the natural world. We are the caretakers and stewards for the earth.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have found myself working tirelessly in my profession to develop new programs that both engage our community and serve to further our mission.
You can read more about our programs and sign up to volunteer on our website ecoservantsproject.org
We’re also really excited to announce our new Cut the Butt campaign, which has the potential to drastically reduce the amount of littered cigarette butts in our community.
These littered products leech toxic chemicals into our waterways and soil during decomposition, such as lead, arsenic, and cadmium, as well as a variety of other polyaromatic hydrocarbons that are harmful to aquatic life.
It’s time to change that.
We’re encouraging our volunteers to collect and save littered cigarette butts for recycling.
It’s a simple way to make a real difference and you can do it in 3 easy steps.
1. Collect between 1-10 lbs of littered cigarette butts and be sure to keep them out of the reach of children.
2. Click the Request Pickup button at ecoservantsproject.org/get-
3. We’ll email you a prepaid shipping label, so you can send off the butts to be recycled and voilà you’ve made a real difference.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to the whole team! Each and everyone of you are priceless to our success as an organization. I’d like to give a special shoutout to Robert Trumper for your countless hours of dedication to our Los Angeles expansion.
