We had the good fortune of connecting with Arlene A Mora and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arlene, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Every single person on this planet has been given a unique set of gifts and talents to use. We do have the choice to rise up and embrace those gifts – or we can shrink back and settle right where we are. But we need to understand, if we do not play the role we are supposed to, at the time we are meant to … the world ultimately ends up paying the price. None of us have been made to be average. We have been created with a purpose. When we step fully into our purpose, this has the power to ripple out massive change to the entire world. Ever since I was young, I understood that we do affects the bigger picture. Whatever we do, has a direct impact on the people around us – whether it be negative or positive.
Seeing my mom speak up whenever there was a concern in the community or our family, has been very empowering for me. It taught me – my voice matters. I seen her come up with creative solutions that have helped many people as well as our own family. I seen my dad use laughter and love with every person he encounters. Giving others compliments to brighten their day, taught me the power of offering a simple smile and asking how someone’s day is going, has the power to change someone’s life. It’s just showing people they are important, and they matter. I always felt the call to help people live their passion, show them they are one of a kind and motivate them to be the best they can.
Pairing those teachings with all the knowledge I learned about aromatherapy as a teenager, I created my business. I have been researching Aromatherapy for over 20 years now. It all started because I was looking for all-natural solutions to help with the anxiousness I felt daily. I found lots of comfort in essential oils as they drastically helped soothed my mind, body, and spirit with one drop. After having my daughter, I leaned heavily on Aromatherapy to support my postpartum depression and anxiety journey. I remember being in such a dark space. Not very many people understood what I was going through, I mean, I did not even know what was going on with me either. I had lots of family support through that difficult time which further made me appreciate all the inspiration and motivation to be the best me I could be. I began on a whole natural lifestyle change while incorporating therapeutic grade essential oils.
But it wasn’t until I lost one of my beautiful cousin’s in December of 2011 to suicide, is when my mission kicked into high gear. I began to piece together all the holistic healing tools I had learned from my childhood up until that point. I made a promise to do everything in my power to make others aware of how every person is so loved and valued! Every person has a place and every person matters.
Creating my beautiful business has been a labor of love. I go above and beyond to help my family, my friends, and anyone who crosses my path – whether it be helping them get top notch holistic remedies or offering some loving inspiration. We all have been placed here to be the best we can and help each other out on our journey and my place is to help with aromatherapy and motivation/inspirational speaking.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my perseverance, dedication and understanding of others. I acknowledge and honor everyone is different while we are still apart of the same picture. There is no one size fits all inspiration/motivation or wellness advice. Personal wellness and development is just that – “Personal”.
I take into account every person is a unique individual. When putting together a wellness plan, we discuss a lot about personal experiences especially emotions (any suppressed traumas). Trauma can be caused by an overwhelmingly negative event that causes a lasting impact on our mental and emotional body. Trauma doesn’t have to be a big horrific event, it could be anything. Often times when we store trauma in the body, it is because we could not articulate our emotions at that moment and stuffed it down to process at a later date. What happens a lot is, we don’t end up processing those emotions and they manifest themselves into physical aches and pains. Even worse, they could end up as some form of cancer or other dis-ease if they are not dealt with.
Emotions and traumas play a huge part in our health and wellness. I am proud to offer a non-invasive technique called Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT). It combines proven psychological principles and Aromatherapy, to quickly and gently dissolve the negative thoughts, feelings and memories that hold us back from reaching our dreams.
Each one of us deserves to live out our dreams because it is our birthright. We have so much power especially in our mindset and words. Once the trapped emotions are removed, we can successfully co-create the life we desire. Keep in mind, there is no such thing as an overnight success because it is the sum of every little thing that adds up. Clearing out the tiniest emotions can catapult you into the next level. Just smelling one drop of high-quality essential oils, has the power to shift your consciousness. So this is one reason why it is very important to not settle for cheaper quality oils.
We have to remember, no good thing comes easy and you have to put in work for the person you want to become. It’s like physically working out, we have to continue to show up daily to see the results. We can’t sit on the couch and expect a muscular physique to appear without having done anything. We have to fiercely guard our minds and pour into our mind-body-spirit wellness daily. Every success starts in the mind. If we bombard our minds with negativity, there is absolutely no future of victory in sight.
When we have a dream, we must plant it in our mind and water it … feed it … nurture it with love, positivity and the right nutrients that will best support our body systems. AND most important, Surround yourself with people who believe in you and your dream. I will always be here to help to be your best self in mind, body and spirit.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sunny San Diego, CA is such a beautiful place to be. Great weather and most of all, some other the most beautiful people in the world are here. Me and my family are always out enjoying the sunshine and all the local spots, so we know where some of the best places are. Come let me tell you all about our favorite places to be.
First day would be spent at Coronado beach. When we hang out on the island of Coronado, we get hungry and grab a bite to eat at The Burger Lounge and dessert right next door at Gelato Paradiso. We walk around the shops and just enjoy the atmosphere. If we don’t have our kiddos, we choose Nicky Rottens or Coronado Brewing Company to get a drink.
The next day, would be spent in Little Italy. Of course, we have to eat and when in Little Italy we eat pizza. Not just any pizza but the best pizza in San Diego, Filippis (already drooling). After dinner, we walk over to Earth’s Elements to admire (and purchase) the gorgeous crystals and all the metaphysical trinkets they have. The entire team is so warming and welcoming. Then we get a yummy sweet treat from either Holy Paleta or Bobboi Gelato.
The following day, we would spend the day in downtown/seaport village area. Again, we have to eat right? lol Grab some delicious tacos at Puesto at the Headquarters. After eating, walk around and then go have some of the yummiest and most beautiful cake in town at Extraordinary Desserts. Somewhere have to squeeze in a trip to Pacific Beads. Be prepared to experience some Southern California hospitality from Shlomo. He and his staff are very knowledgeable, and he gives out a lottery ticket to each person who enters. His wife, Pnina and their whole crew are so amazing at helping you pick out the best crystals and jewelry.
It wouldn’t be a San Diego Trip if you didn’t visit the Famous Balboa Park and possibly the zoo since it’s right next door. Soak up all of nature’s beauty and pick up some lunch/dinner at one of my favorite places, The Prado.
Another day would be spent hanging around Liberty Station. It would be a rock-paper-scissors war to figure out which place to eat there because there’s so many good options. But most of the time, The Corvette Diner wins because it’s fun for the whole family. Can’t go wrong with a 1950’s style diner, games and thee best Oreo Milkshake you’ve ever tasted.
Some other of my favorite local places to eat and hang out are, Legoland, Mission Beach, Sushi Deli (beanstalk roll is the bomb and their Fried Gyoza is soooo good), Cali Comfort BBQ, Franco’s Flapjack’s, Sweet Escape (The owners are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet & their bubble waffle cones are delicious) and Snoice.
I know there may be some places I forgot but my city is so beautiful and really, any place you go in San Diego, CA is sure to be memorable.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It truly takes a village to help others along the crazy beautiful journey of life. None of us reach our destinations without support from others. There are so many people who have played a part in my life but as stated before, a huge part of any success I have is due to my parents for showing me to use my voice to find solutions and help others feel good about themselves. I love you guys for supporting me all these years.
To Robert, Alannah and Mason, thank you for loving me in the moments exactly as I am. For supporting all my ideas and helping me put together so many projects that help the community. Also, for continuing to teach me that I have so much more growth to do and that love is so powerful that can truly move mountains. I love you guys so much.
